Mustard. Some love it, some don't love it...
We're not for everyone. But if you love your home, care about design and have a thirst to create things for yourself, then give us a whirl. We're here to make you feel inspired and creative, or at least have a chuckle (especially if you're a fan of gin!).
We have a dedicated workshop space where you can discover what you need to know to make your home and style your own: we do dress making, furniture painting, upholstery, lampshade making, neon signs, candle making...and rest assured whatever is currently on trend by the time you read this ;) Make something for yourself, make a gift, or even give a workshop experience as a gift.
Or just browse the shop where we basically sell all the tools without the teaching, but always share our knowledge and experience to give you the best value for your money. Our Made by Mustard products are handmade by us at the shop and inspire many a good laugh!
And if you just want a fresh look in your home but really don't fancy making a mess, bring us your furniture and some thoughts or desires and we'll revive it here at the shop.
Mustard originated as a franchise of French Grey Tales of Morpeth, Northumberland. We loved FGT and everything it stood for, but sadly family needs meant Layla, the owner, had to simply focus on what was most important.
We wanted to keep a good thing going here in Bridgnorth, Shropshire, so we've branched out on our own and re-branded - and Mustard was born!
Nothing is kept secret here so if we can make it, we'll share it! Follow us on Instagram and Facebook and share your Mustard makes or purchases to feature on our 'Mustard by You' page.
P.S. - we don't actually sell mustard (yet....)
THE MUSTARD FAMILY
Owner of Mustard. Interiors nut. I love to create a mish mash of style from vintage to mid century and a bit of bang up to date modern too, my house is a real mix! Contrary to popular belief I don't think all furniture should be painted, it's about a balance and mixing good quality natural woods with paint and colour.
If you can't see me in the shop you'll more than likely hear me upstairs printing, cutting, melting and pressing to bring you our Made by Mustard homeware. I'm always dreaming up new designs and ideas for workshops.
Loves: colour, a roast dinner and gin
In summer 2016 Emma was doing a bit of soul searching in Bridgnorth and wandered into my shop. Then she mentioned she was a seamstress. And worked for Anthropologie in LA. SOLD!!! I snapped her up and now she runs all of our sewing machine and dressmaking workshops.
A problem solver through and through, I can always rely on Emma to come up with a solution when I need one! She can also be found in the Mustard studio fixing beautiful vintage dresses for shop neighbour The Looking Glass - it's a real community affair here!
Loves: her boys, hummus and fabric
I first met Max as a customer who had a love for painting furniture. Previously a make up artist, it's sure to say that Max is a dab hand with a paintbrush and when I saw how meticulously she painted, I had to get her on board!
If you're in the shop at the same time as Max you'll most likely hear her singing, as she also performs vintage gigs in local venues - she's a talented woman!
The queen of neutrals: Max knows how to work a Bathstone with a French Grey, an Antique White with a Neutral.
Loves: tea, singing and the pigs Alfie and Maisie
Rob is my constant source of support. Usually found moving heavy furniture around in the shop, finding interesting stuff to upcycle or coming to my rescue when a blow torch falls apart.
Occasionally you'll find Rob sat behind the till while I'm off running a fair, a workshop or simply need a day off. If you've got a piece of furniture you want us to collect to paint for you or you've bought yourself some treasure from the shop and can't pick it up, you'll find Rob and his van at your service.
Loves: a good view, good beer and his record player
